Police searching for felony suspect in Echo Park [updated]

Echo Park  — Police have sealed off several streets and an LAPD chopper has been hovering overhead for nearly two hours as officers search for a felony suspect.

The suspect got out of a vehicle and ran from officers, said an LAPD spokesman. No further details were available about the suspect.

Readers said that numerous police cars as well as a police dog unit had gathered near Aaron Street and Glendale Boulevard.

“Looks crazy,” said one reader.

Update @ 11:13 AM:  The search has apparently ended. One reader said police dogs helped track down a suspect, who was seen surrounded by police next to a building at Aaron and Glendale.
