5 suspects apprehended in Montecito Heights from vehicle reported as stolen

Montecito Heights  — Five suspects are in custody after leading police on a brief pursuit in an allegedly stolen vehicle Monday night, police said.

The pursuit started at about 8 p.m. on the Arroyo Seco Parkway at Avenue 43. After patrol officers identified the vehicle as stolen, they attempted to pull the vehicle over, and the driver took off, police with LAPD’s Northeast Division said.

The driver pulled over near Avenue 43 and Griffin Avenue, and the five suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police closed off streets as they began searching for the suspects. The suspects, some of whom are juveniles, were apprehended and taken into custody, police said.

Simply Informed, a Twitter user who follows police scanner traffic, said a gun was recovered at the scene.
