About 24,000 runners poured through the streets of Echo Park and Silver Lake this morning for the 2019 L.A. Marathon.

After starting at Dodger Stadium, the marathoners flooded into Downtown before turning west on their way to the finish line in Santa Monica. Residents cheered and photographed the runners as they passed by Echo Park Lake and then headed westbound on Sunset Boulevard into Silver Lake.

Elisha Barno was the fastest runner among the men, with a time of 2:11:45. Ethiopian Askale Merachi finished first among women with a time of  2:24:11 — a record for the marathon.
