Eastside Weekend: Bohemian Rhapsody + Queen Night | Couples Pasta Class | Bombino in concert

If you’re looking for a fun night out, Grammy-nominated Nigerien guitar virtuoso, Bombino, will be performing in Frogtown throughout the weekend. Meanwhile, Bohemian Rhapsody and Queen tribute night in Echo Park will be the place to be Friday night.

FRIDAY, March 29

Murder Mystery Dinner Show at El Cid: Take part in unraveling a murder mystery over a three-course meal and dessert at this Silver Lake club as your hosts keep you in stitches with their comedic mystery script. $86.90-$107.50. 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Details.

Bohemian Rhapsody + Queen Night at the Echoplex: Club 90s DJs will be serving up a massive dose of Freddie Mercury and Queen as well as other ‘70s hits throughout the night in Echo Park. $7-$12. 10 p.m. Details.

Date Night Couples Pasta Class at the King’s Roost:  You and your partner will learn how to make your own pasta dough using the fresh flour you will be milling in class. BYOW(ine). $150 per couple. 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Details.

Madre Tierra 2 Limited Release at Dry River Brewing: Join Dry River Brewing of Boyle Heights and Brewjeria Company for the tapping of their special collab, Madre Tierra 2, an open-top fermented ale made with grapefruit, kaffir lime, rose petals and blue corn. Free entry. 7 p.m. Details.

SATURDAY, March 30

New Weekend Hours with Peanut Butter Wolf at Gold Line Bar:  To usher in the new weekend hours, Peanut Butter Wolf and friends will be spinning records from the collection all day and night in Highland Park. Free entry. 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Details.

Bombino live at Zebulon: The Grammy-nominated Nigerian  singer and guitar virtuoso brings his own fusion of Berber music, blues and rock & roll to Elysian Valley — aka Frogtown — during his U.S.-Canada tour. $25. Saturday & Sunday at 9 p.m. Details.   

Coil Construction Workshop at POT LA: This introductory pottery workshop in Echo Park will teach you how to hand-build your forms by layering coils. $70. 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Details.

Composting Workshop at the Audubon Center: If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, take this workshop to learn how to aerate a compost pile, add new material, sift finished material and feed and harvest worm castings. Free. 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Details.

Kitties and Cattoos Fundraiser at Sante D’Or Animal Rescue Foundation: Pop in for a visit with the rescue kitties and a henna tattoo. All donations will benefit the Atwater Village foundation’s furry felines. Donation. 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Details.

SUNDAY, March 31

Calligraphy Workshop at Makers Mess: Learn basic pen strokes and proper construction of letterforms using your take-home calligraphy supply set. $150. 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Details.
